CONFIDENTIAL NEWS RELEASE

Even though the company was experiencing a large financial loss due to poor sales, it’s obvious from the date of this News Release that it fully intended to continue manufacturing the Jewett Six. As late as September 2, 1926, Motor Age magazine ran a two page ad headlining the ‘New Four-Door Sedan and Two-Door Brougham in (the) Jewett Line for 1927’. It’s also interesting to note that in October of 1926 the company was running a contest for the public, through their dealers, to “Name The Beautiful New Jewett”. The contest winner would win $10,000.00!

Sometime after October and before the end of the year, either the Board of Directors, or Harry Jewett, or the Graham Brothers’ offer to purchase the company made the company change its mind about continuing in the automobile business. In retrospect it turned out to be a wise decision due to the national economic crash three years later.
